Please use the following form to submit your application to be a Faculty Mentor of an REU participant. In addition to providing contact information, you must submit a short title and abstract of the project you are proposing for the REU participant. Selected REU participants will be matched to Faculty Mentors based on the students' description of their research interests and the project description given in this application. If you wish to submit more than one project, please reload this page after submitting each abstract and repeat the process for each project.

Please provide a short description of the project, making sure that the information contains sufficient detail to ensure perfect matching of REU participant research interests and those of the Faculty Mentor. In submitting this form as part of your application to become an REU mentor, you are agreeing and committing to the following: As an REU Mentor, you are committing to: Meet personally with the student to provide guidance, direction, and support at least once a week during the eight-week program. Provide opportunities for the student researcher to learn valuable research skills. If there is a research team, treat the student as a full member of the team, complete with responsibilities and privileges. Keep the student accountable for his/her time and quality of effort. Offer suggestions for program improvement and report any concerns/needs regarding the REU student or the research program to the PI's and/or Marilee Rowe, staff person. Participate in mandatory mentor activities including the orientation program, research proposal presentations, and the final presentations. Arrange for a responsible proxy to be available for the student researcher if you are not available for an extended period, such as a doctoral level graduate student. Meet program deadlines for submitting progress reports and final evaluations. Encourage a mentoring relationship on and off the research site, so that the student gets the big picture of the faculty researcher’s world.
